Whiskey was purchased for the Free State firing squad

Tough times during the Civil War whiskey was purchased for the Free State firing squad. The Free State Soldiers would have been ordered to execute former comrades. Liam Lynch as Chief of Staff of the Irish Republican Army and a person of high principles was not in favour of executing prisoners and would not allow men under his control to do it. Today executing prisoners is considered a war crime.
